Recognition
A wader of about 18” with a black head and a long thick orange or red bill (beak).
Where seen
This chunky bird can be seen wandering about the shorelines of Sanibel and Captiva Islands but has been spotted in singles on Lofton Island.

When flushed, will fly off with an eerie sound. Look for the large white wing bars in flight. Often seen in small groups and at the same places. |
