American Robin

Recognition
Look out for the white ring around its eye and the orangey-red breast.  Size: a standard 9-10”.

Where seen
During spring, good numbers often arrive in OBV and along New Post Road around the gardens of Foxmoor.  After rain, they are often seen drinking in roadside puddles.

Jimmy’s notes

These birds are on winter migration to Mexico and Central America and can be seen in large numbers for a week or so. Look for them feeding on fruit and berries. The Robin is the official state bird of Connecticut, Michigan and Wisconsin.
