Bald Eagle

Recognition
Adults have a white head and a white tail which can be seen in flight. It looks if though there are a series of fingers at the end of its wings. Juveniles do not have the white head. About three feet in length with a wing span of some 6-7 ft.

Where seen
Often seen soaring behind Adam Drive and flying close to the land bordering the Caloosahatchee River. Also seen regularly at the Babcock Ranch.

Jimmy’s notes
If you see a large, slow flying bird, get out the binoculars, it may a Bald Eagle. If the bird has a white head, it is a bird which is probably at least four years old.  Often seen in singles at Lofton Island taking mullet in the very shallow waters.
