Brown Thrasher

Recognition

A medium sized thrush-like bird which is rust red in colour. The eyes are bright yellow; a pale breast is streaked with dark brown. Look out for the two white wing bars in flight.

Where seen

Along Adam Drive and New post Road running in and out bushes particularly first thing in the morning.

Jimmy’s notes

More likely to be seen in the winter when there is an influx of birds from the north. This bird has quite a longish tail. Like a typical thrush, they run along the ground in and out of bushes. This bird is very musical and never seems to sing the same song twice.
