Recognition
This is a small bird about 6 inches in length. The back is grey and the belly and sides are pinky grey. The bill is orange with a faint black tip.
Where seen
Under bird feeders picking up fallen seeds and in the open fields along Bayshore Road towards the I75.
Jimmy’s notes
In flight look out for the chestnut red/brown wing linings. Seems to always be bobbing its head and resembles a wound–up clockwork toy.
Like mourning doves they appear not to be afraid of humans.
