Fish Crow
Recognition
All black in color with a longer tail than an American crow. American crows have a definite low pitched “caw caw” call, while Fish Crows have a higher pitched call that sounds like “uh-uh”. Size: about 15” high.
Where seen
Often seen around the park in small numbers sitting on wires along New Post Road and along the canal bordering Sir Walter Way.
Jimmy’s notes
These are not the birds seen in large groups and if you hear a loud “uh-uh” sound then it is certainly not an American crow but a Fish crow.
Also, if you see a largish black bird enjoying a fresh road kill supper, than it is probably an America crow.
