Great Blue Heron
Recognition
A long-legged bird often seen at watersides and about four feet tall. Gray in color with a bit of a crest at the back of the head. Size: to 4’
Where to see
Often seen stalking little fish at the two ponds on Concord Drive. Occasionally seen at Lara Circle and Adam Drive ponds.
Jimmy’s notes
This is largest of the herons and when disturbed they make a gruff sound. In flight the legs can be seen trailing straight behind the bird.
