Mourning Dove

Small pinky-brown birds with black spots on the wings and tail. There is also a single black spot below the eye. It emits a gentle and distinctive cooing (or mourning) sound.
Where seen
All around the park but particularly in good numbers along the telephone wires on New Post Road particularly towards dusk. Readily comes to bird feeders.
Jimmy’s notes
Feeds on the ground and appears to waddle about. At times this species appears to be semi-tame. Often nests in car ports making a flimsy platform of twigs.
