Red-tailed Hawk
Recognition
Quite a large hawk which appears to be brown speckled with white. In flight the red tail can be seen and unlike the red shouldered hawk, the under wings are pale in color.
Where seen
Often seen perched on wires, fence posts and light posts along Interstate 75, North on the 41 and north on SR 30.
Jimmy’s notes
Larger than the red shouldered hawk. Look for a lone bird perched on a prominent point along the highway particularly in the vicinity of farm land and open fields.
