Ring-billed Gull

Recognition
Look for the yellowish legs and bill.  A black ring is found towards the end of the bill. In flight the wing tips are black.

Where seen
Seen on channel marker posts along the river and at the municipal dump on Del Prado.

Jimmy’s notes
Like all gulls, they tend to be speckled brown when in a winter plumage, or when still juveniles.

Look at the head:  if it is speckled in winter it is probably a ring-billed gull and if its head contains a couple of black spots it is probably a laughing gull. Look for the ring on the bill which should be evident when the bird is about six months old.
