Rock Pigeon

Recognition
These are the common, feral type of pigeon often seen around towns where they are fed by tourists. They are often a combination of shades of grey, black and blue mixed in with white.

Where seen
Often seen in small groups in Downtown Fort Myers and around Centennial Park. There is a flock of about 30 birds often seen sitting on the wires just before you turn south on US 41 opposite the Discount Liquor Store.

Jimmy’s notes
More common in cities than in the countryside. Often seen around outdoor cafes and restaurants. They come in many different color patterns and can often be seen perching on the fronts of buildings.

The bird in the picture is often referred to as a blue bar.
