Tricolored Heron

Recognition
The head, neck and wings are blue-grey and the legs are yellowy green. The white stripe on its breast extends down to its white belly.
 
Where seen
Often seen in all the canals and in particular in the margins where it stalks its prey.Seen in the wetlands of Sanibel at the DD preserve. Often seen in singles on the shoreline at Tween Waters on Captiva island.

Smaller than the great blue heron but larger than the little blue heron.
