Turkey Vulture

Recognition
A large bird with a wing span of up to 6 ft. When looked at with binoculars on or if seen flying at low heights, you will see the red face.

Where seen
All around OBV often riding the thermals, maybe in singles or small groups.

Jimmy’s notes
These are often seen circling in the sky looking for food. When soaring just above your head, they always appear to be looking down at you. This bird can sometimes be confused with a Bald eagle or a Black vulture but in flight, its wings form a slight V-shape while the other two do not. When flying, the wings look like they have fingers on the ends of them. The undersides of the leading edges of the wings are dark and the rest of the wings are light brown.
