OBV SOFTBALL -
THE ROOKIES & THE VILLAGE PEOPL
E
Our Teams

The Old Bridge Rookies, our original softball team, has been a power house in the league since 2004 with 81 wins and 10 losses, winning the League in 2008 and finishing first or second most years.

The Rookies started to play in the Mark Ford Senior Softball league in 2001.

Now in their 5th year, the Village people are managed by Jerry Dale. With 4 new players, great team spirit and almost all of last year's players returning, the VP is looking forward to the best year ever. For some action shots of recent games, click here.

The league consists of the following communities in North Fort Myers:

  • Buccaneer Village
  • De Tura
  • Heritage
  • Herons Glen
  • Lake Fairways
  • Pine Lakes
  • Sabal Springs.

Some of the communities in common with Old Bridge Village have more than one team in this league.

Never too old
to play softball at
Old Bridge Village

Bill Gorhan age 75 and Ron Vick age 73, prove that people of all ages can play softball in Old Bridge Village.

Bill and Ron have played with their respective teams since the teams were formed, Bill with The Rookies since 2000 and Ron with the Village People since 2005. Both players have watched their teams go from mostly losing to mostly winning. Bill, originally from NJ, has played all of the positions in his career and Ron, originally from Minnesota,  started on third base and is presently a pitcher.

If you would like to see these great players in action, come to our games which are on Mondays and Wednesdays.

- and are free to the public. The complex sports restroom facilities and metal bleachers on both the home and visitor sides, along with plenty of room for lawn chairs if you prefer. Our players LOVE it when all of the seats are full of cheering fans led by our capable cheerleading staff.
