Nassau Grouper

Description

These are reddish or brown in color and have a blotched look. The giveaway characteristic is a black patch on the caudal peduncle (on the back just before the start of the tail).

Size

We have only ever caught three, all under 2 pounds in weight.

Tackle and baits

The ones we have caught have been on Mepps’ lures using a spinning rod. In all cases, they were caught close to a solid structure such as a culvert or a road bridge.
