Due to the cost and limited number of Yacht Club members who signed up for the March 9th Special Boat trip, the Yacht Club has joined with the Social Alliance and it is now open to all Old Bridge residents. A boat will leave at 9:30 a.m. from Pine Island, stop at Cabbage Key for lunch, and travel to Cayo Costa to enjoy a walk, a swim, or a short nap on the beach. The cost of this trip is $30.00 per person plus $10.00 for parking and does not include the cost of lunch. For more information or to sign up, please check the Social Alliance bulletin board.
There are some changes to our March 25th trip to Caladesi Island State Park. Our Vice-Commodore, Ken Hurley, is working on this and he will be in touch with those captains who have indicated an interest in this trip. The Bridge has also been discussing some additional outings for March. Listen for these at Saturday Koffee and/or read emails from Les Howes.
This month we implemented our “New Member Welcoming Committee”. All of our 26 new members have been contacted by fellow members to help them get acquainted with our yacht club. If you would like to join this worthwhile committee, please sign up in the yacht club binder.
Our annual Steak Fry at Franklin Locks will be held on March 30th. This is always a great day full of fun with games and activities, good company and a $5.00 meal for Yacht Club members, $10.00 for non-Old Bridge guests, consisting of a 16oz. steak, sautéed onions, vegetable, salad, sautéed onion and dessert. Put this date on your calendar and plan on coming either by boat or by car for an enjoyable afternoon. Tickets will be going on sale March 6th.
We are still looking for one or more individuals who would be interested in taking over the Toys for Tots Campaign. A wonderful network of volunteers who have worked on this program in the past as well as our past chairperson, Pat McPhail, will be available for guidance. Please seriously consider how you can help with this very worthwhile program. If you are interested, please contact me at 543-2962.
Here’s to better weather and good boating ahead!
